Construction Piping Superintendent 

Role: 

Reporting to the Construction Superintendent responsible for the co-ordination and supervision of works performed by the Piping and Mechanical Contractor on Site activities for their given scope of work; including ensuring work is performed in a safe and efficient manner to a satisfactory standard that meets the requirements of the Project.

Responsibilities:  

Specific

  • Providing supervision, and support for Contractors including monitor, expediting and activities.

  • Coordinate construction activities with other superintendents and Contractors to ensure efficient, safe construction and productive work.

  • Be conversant with the various types of engineering drawings and have a good overall understanding of discipline specifications.

  • Audit and check work is performed in accordance with relevant codes and standards and that only trained experienced personnel are used on Project works.

  • Promoting a safe working environment on site with Contractor to ensure all HSSE goals are achieved.

  • Evaluate Contractor, competencies, procedures, staffing. and work processes and ensure they are maintained throughout the construction phase.

  • Review Contractor method statements to ensure work will be performed in controlled, safe, and productive methods.

  • Implementing and enforcing policies, procedures, and related work rules.

  • Support the operation of the PTW system.

General

  • Maintains safe, and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures, complying with legal regulations.

  • Attending construction / Contractor meetings when required to do so.

  • Carrying out daily reviews and daily log of construction activity.

  • Ensure the satisfactory operation and maintenance of Contractor temporary facilities.


Competencies/Skills:       

  • Knowledgeable and familiarity of German piping and mechanical industry specifications, codes, and standards.

  • Must be able to monitor Contractor and inspection of piping and mechanical work.

  • Co-ordinate effectively the work area requirements for multiple Contractors.

  • Must demonstrate leadership skills and perform duties with minimum direction.

  • Computer literate, proficient with (Microsoft Office programmes).

  • Working knowledge in oral and written German and understanding of spoken English.


Qualifications: 

  • Time served apprentice certificate from a piping or mechanical background or a national certificate qualification from a similar background.

  • 10+ years of relevant site piping and mechanical construction experience including a minimum of 4 years supervisory experience.
