Here’s a part‑time role (20 hours / week) that still puts you at the heart of some of the most important engineering challenges in the UK. If you want meaningful work without the full‑time commitment, this is your chance to bring serious structural design expertise to a project that genuinely matters.
What You’ll Do
You’ll be one of the go‑to structural designers within a high‑performing design and engineering team—solving problems, shaping solutions, and pushing standards upward. Your week will include:
- Creating innovative design outputs for complex, highly regulated environments.
- Producing detailed structural steelwork and concrete models, including GA drawings and RC detailing.
- Working shoulder‑to‑shoulder with multidisciplinary engineers to build integrated design solutions.
- Supporting smooth handovers to construction teams and ensuring designs land correctly on site.
- Mentoring apprentices and technicians—helping shape the next generation of designers.
- Applying BIM principles and keeping outputs aligned with best practice and relevant industry standards.
You’re already an experienced structural designer with a track record of delivering across the full design lifecycle. You’ll need:
- HNC (minimum) in a relevant discipline.
- Around 10+ years’ experience in structural design roles.
- Strong capability with CAD and BIM tools—Autodesk Revit expertise is essential.
- Professional membership or substantial proven experience.
- A mindset that blends technical rigour with collaboration, clarity and accountability.
You get the impact of working on high‑value, high‑purpose engineering… without the full‑time hours. You’ll join a team that values expertise, encourages innovation, and gives you the room to do your best work.
