Working with a an expanding power generation company, an opportunity has arisen to recruit a Design Engineer to support the successful delivery of Outages, Asset Engineering Projects and Business Development Projects.
This role is a permanent appointment and will primarily be based in our clients' Leeds office with travel to other locations as required.

The Role:
Reporting to the Head of Quality, the key responsibilities and duties will include:-
  • Providing technical support services to the fleet including matters related to Engineering Design, Asset Surveys, Design best practice and compliance to BS888
  • Providing specialist technical Design Engineering Support as part of the Gated Outage Project Review process
  • Providing technical design and draughting oversight for major outages and engineering projects drawing upon relevant experience
  • Acting as the Champion and Subject Matter Expert (SME), review existing outage inspection management databases, documents, processes & procedures for suitability 
  • Conducting periodic surveys (as required) of Assets to support the project and asset teams in the creation of accurate engineering drawings and support the Asset integrity team in compiling surveys and reports into structural asset integrity
  •  Conducting detailed measurement of key items of plant and produce detailed engineering drawings supporting the process of reverse engineering of products to allow the client to open-up supply chains and gain strategic advantage through new sourcing options
  • Leading/Supporting Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) design studies to ensure that supplied product is fit for purpose and complies to requirements both in terms of product dimensional accuracy and drawing quality
  • Developing supporting training materials to assist employees and contract partners with the introduction of new process and procedural requirements around the site inspection management process and taking responsibility for the Central Drawing database, championing the transition to the central database away from locally held drawings

You will need:
  • Formal Draughtman Qualification with practical engineering experience in a power station environment (essential)
  • Fully trained in AutoCAD 2021 and RastaCAD (essential)
  • Experience in draughting within an industrial or manufacturing engineering environment
  • Knowledge of PSSR, PER, DSEAR and ATEX Regulations
  • Understanding of material properties and specifications, particularly those that relate to the replacement or repair of pressure equipment
  • Experience of designing and maintaining MS Access Databases for the purposes of Outage NDT management
  • Knowledge and understanding of NDT inspection management practices and methodologies & experience of working with and co-ordinating NDT TSA’s on PSSR rated pressure systems in a power station environment.
  • Skilled at surveying and measuring industrial premises and assets unsupported to a standard to allow the creation of detailed engineering drawings for the purposes of manufacture or construction to BS888 standard
  • Familiar working with KKS and other industry standard design configurations
  • Knowledge of drawing management systems and appropriate approval and nomenclature methodologies
