Engineering Manager

Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to lead and oversee major rail and civil engineering projects. The successful candidate will manage multidisciplinary teams and ensure the safe, timely, and cost-effective delivery of complex infrastructure works, including structures, tunnels, viaducts, and large-scale concrete and steel construction.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead engineering teams across large rail and civil projects, ensuring compliance with design standards and safety regulations.
  • Oversee the design, planning, and execution of works involving structures, tunnels, viaducts, and heavy civil engineering.
  • Manage technical assurance processes and interface with design consultants, contractors, and stakeholders.
  • Ensure quality control and adherence to specifications for concrete and steel construction.
  • Drive innovation and best practices in engineering methodologies and project delivery.
  • Provide leadership in risk management, cost control, and resource allocation.
  • Act as the technical authority for engineering decisions and problem-solving.
Essential Skills & Experience
  • Proven experience as an Engineering Manager on large-scale rail and civil engineering projects.
  • Strong knowledge of structures, tunnels, viaducts, and heavy civil works.
  • Expertise in concrete and steel construction techniques.
  • Familiarity with relevant standards (e.g., Network Rail, Eurocodes, BS codes).
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline; Chartered Engineer status preferred.
Desirable
  • Experience with major infrastructure programs (e.g., HS2, Crossrail, large rail upgrades).
  • Knowledge of BIM and digital engineering tools.
  • Understanding of environmental and sustainability considerations in civil works.
