Rate: £400p/d Umbrella - £300 PAYE + hols (£340p/d)
Hours: Usually 45 hours per week – 7:30am -5:30pm ( 1 hour lunch)
Role : This position is responsible for supporting environmental and sustainability performance on projects by ensuring compliance with regulations, conducting inspections and audits, managing environmental incidents, and maintaining key documentation. The advisor delivers training, provides technical advice, monitors environmental impacts (such as water, noise, and dust), and drives sustainability initiatives including carbon management. The role also involves obtaining and managing permits, supporting project teams with environmental queries, and reporting on key performance indicators throughout project delivery.
We need the role to be out with the teams on site, supporting with mitigations and ensuring that actions raised are being addressed by operational teams.
There will be reporting internally on any findings and actions etc.
Key Responsibilities:
Compliance Assessment:
- Input into the Fit to Start process prior to project mobilisation
- Input into project 6-week SMS lookahead
- Carry out Environmental Inspections
- Produce Environmental Inspection 6-week lookahead programme
- Carry out internal Environmental Audits
- Report Environmental Incidents
- Support Incident Investigation evidence gathering
- Investigate Environmental Incidents (L1 Investigation)
- Produce and update Construction Environmental Management Plan
- Produce & update Project Aspects & Impacts Register
- Produce other Environmental Plans based on project risks e.g. Water Management Plan
- Implement & update Site Waste Management Plan on SMARTWaste (and word document if required)
- Co-ordinate technical environmental documentation for planning discharge from consultants
- Assist in production of Emergency Response Plan
- RAMS review (from Environmental Perspective) - Low Risk
- RAMS review (from Environmental Perspective) - Medium Risk
- Complete/Maintain Consents & Authorisation Register
- Obtain discharge, abstraction, Flood Risk Permits
- Obtain Waste exemptions & collate evidence
- Collate and report water-related permit data to EA/SEPA/NRW upon request
- Ensure compliance with RPS and EA/SEPA/NRW exemptions
- Draft and submit Section 61 consents
- Complete/signoff Permits to pump and obtain/collate monitoring records
- Deliver Environmental and Ecology Toolbox Talks.
- Deliver Environmental training in line with the Environmental training matrix.
- Deliver Spill Response training and undertake 6-monthly drills.
- Assist in production/delivery of Project Induction (environmental content).
- Deliver Waste Rep training and ongoing interface.
- Produce and disseminate lessons learnt and topic specific notices
- Respond to general project queries on environmental topics
- Input into Project team meetings
- Conduct water quality monitoring
- Maintain equipment calibration and associated records
- Environmental Noise monitoring
- Conduct Daily Dust monitoring inspections
- Produce & Update Carbon Management Plan
- Assist in Production of Carbon baseline & update throughout construction
- Manage client-specific Project Sustainability Action Plans (e.g. National Grid/National Gas)
- Collate and report Environmental Sustainability KPI data
