NRL are currently recruiting for an Estimator on behalf of one of our clients based in Winchester.


Role Responsibilities:

  • Deal with client enquiries in writing, email and via the telephone;

  • Produce accurate quotations in accordance with the customers’ requirements / documentation and carry out measured site surveys if required.   All aspects of this process would be reviewed by a senior member of the department prior to submission;

  • Liaise with potential clients and record the progress/amendments seeking advice from a senior member of staff if required and passing information on to the Senior Estimator or Bid Manager;

  • Negotiate final contract sums and attend pre-order meetings, with the assistance of either the Bid Manager or the Head of Pre-Contracts;

  • Record orders received and organise contract handover meetings with relevant staff, under the guidance of a Bid Manager or the Head of Pre-Contracts;

  • Keep fully up-to-date with all envelope systems used by our client, including additional training if required;

  • Ensure archiving/filing of estimates are recorded and kept up-to-date;

  • Assist in maintaining Causeway computerised estimating system, including the updating of material costs in the computer database when required;

  • ensure any updates of the computerised systems are implemented under suitable supervision;

  • Liaise with other departments such as procurement, quantity surveying, design and site / project managers;

  • Chasing and requesting outstanding information from clients;

  • Sending emails, letters and making telephone calls in order to obtain all the information necessary;

  • Photocopying/scanning and distributing contractual information to internal departments;

  • Conduct all of the above in line with the procedures laid down in the approved quality assurance document.



Role Requirements:

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office, in particular Word, Excel and Outlook. 

  • Knowledge of computerised estimating systems.

  • Knowledge of server based or web based data storage systems.

  • Experience in a closely related industry, i.e. roofing, cladding, glazing or curtain walling.

  • Contributes towards an environment of confidence and respect.

  • Considers the impact of opting for particular design / commercial options or delivery outcomes.

  • Learns from experience and uses this experience to generate improvements for both clients and the Company.
