NRL are currently recruiting for a Fleet Programmes Project Engineer to work on a contract basis at Faslane, Helensburgh. To provide a Project Engineering function to deliver Submarine projects to meet safety, time, quality, performance and cost targets. Please note full SC security clearance must be held to be considered against the role.

Key Results Areas:
  • Compile Project Management Plans (PMPs) from agreed Work Package Scopes on multiple Vessel Systems and disciplines.
  • Assist the Fleet Programmes Project Manager in maximising the utilisation and the efficiency of all the Project Management resource
  • Ensure that all tasks are carried out in accordance with the Company’s cost, time and quality requirements. (AC17)
  • Ensure that maintenance plans are developed and agreed as the work package evolves.
  • Attend and participate in start-up and progress meetings as required during the Project lifecycle.
  • Ensure that all project work packages are captured, approved and implemented within PEPS
  • Liaise closely with vessels, shore departments and MoD customers (Internal and External) as required to deliver required outputs
  • The post holder will maintain strong and collaborative relationship (engaging and influencing) with Stakeholders and Customers – PGM, SFM, Ship staff, SUBFLOT, ISM-Prog, Navy Command, MoD Design Authority, Technical Authority and Contractor management.
  • Apply logical thinking to resolve conflicting technical operational priorities and any limitations arising.
  • Review and updating of planning and engineering documentation and participation in discussions covering specialist technical subject matters with respect to solving challenging engineering problems.
  • Analysis of situations, events or processes to identify shortfalls and weaknesses in working practices, in own and adjacent areas. Develop and implement recommendations to address shortfalls and work with the Department’s management in delivering change and continuous improvement.
  • Solutions, advice and decisions are given as requested with respect to Project Engineering activities during working hours and or out of hours
  • Largely unsupervised with a high degree of autonomy to resolve conflicts and coordinate planned activities.
  • Identify and engage with key stakeholders to ensure risks are minimised, and highlighted where appropriate.
