As a key member of the existing ICT design team, the successful candidate will work closely with the Engineering design team members and other relevant project stakeholders.
This is predominantly a site based role operating throughout an entire construction project lifecycle. It usually begins at the appointment of a general building contractor and ends upon completion of the construction process, building handover.
Role Responsibilities:
- Production of ICT infrastructure design packages, such as, written report documents, drawings, schematics, schedules, technical specifications, procurement packs.
- Interpretation of 2D CAD design drawings and 3D Revit models in collaboration with the BIM department. An emphasis upon design coordination and clash detection is important.
- Coordination of ICT design with related engineering disciplines, e.g. electrical and mechanical and participation in meetings with the client and relevant project stakeholders.
- Ensure the necessary quality and timeliness standards are met consistent with agreed construction programme/project plan.
- Responsible for the coordination of ICT infrastructure design packages, such as, written report documents, drawings, schematics, schedules, technical specifications, procurement packs.
- Responsible for liaising with the UK based design team on specific design related queries.
- Attending BIM coordination meetings to ensure that the general contractor and sub-contractors are coordinating to the highest standard.
- Review and approval/rejection of contractor proposals, technical submittals, shop drawings against design intent, specifications and code/legislative restrictions.
- Daily site walks to ensure that the installation is consistent with the design intent.
- Maintaining a snagging log, producing punch lists and site progress reports.
- Review and approval/rejection of redline drawings and as-built drawings against the as-built condition of the installation.
- Represent the Clients best interests in meetings with the General Contractor and sub-contractors.
- Ensures contractor installation work meets industry, legal and quality standards.
- Coordination of ICT design with related trades, e.g. electrical and mechanical
- Attend a minimum of 10% of testing and commissioning activities and review/approval of testing scripts and results.
- Review and approval of O&M documentation.
- Either:
- Engineering degree in appropriate ICT infrastructure design engineering discipline with at least a minimum 2 years’ appropriate experience
- Or:
- A-Level secondary education, HNC/HND or CNIDP plus at minimum 4 years appropriate experience.
- Appropriate experience includes:
- Data cabling manufacture/contracting
- IT /IP network systems integration
- Network technology vendor/manufacturer
- IT/Multi-disciplinary consulting firm
- Construction project management
- Previous project experience in ICT infrastructure for data centre construction; commercial building construction ICT infrastructure
- Technical qualifications and design experience in the following technologies
- Structured Cabling Systems
- Fibre Optic Networks
- Data Cabling containment systems
- LAN Ethernet Switching
- Wi-Fi Network Communications
- Telecommunication Network Infrastructure and Services
- Industry qualifications such as Cisco CCNA, CNet training, Bicsi
- Appreciation of the ICT implications related to MEP building services, network security engineering and power supply and cooling systems
- Appreciation of the ICT implications related to MEP building services, network security engineering and power supply and cooling systems
- Excellent communication, presentation and engagement skills are particularly important due to the client facing nature of the role.
- Ability to use to a high competency level, AutoCAD and Bluebeam (production of overlay drawings, schematics and markups)
- Working knowledge of Revit is desirable but not essential
- Navigation and interpretation of Navisworks models desirable, but not essential
- Familiarity with BIM levels and processes
- Familiarity with Procore is desirable but not essential
- Understanding of design and construction stages, from conception to practical completion and LoD required
- Good working knowledge of MS Office applications Word, Excel, Visio etc. Ability to use IT based calculation and spreadsheet software
- Good understanding of building design standards/regulations/codes and relevant IT systems certification standards
- Ability to prioritise own workload, work to deadlines
- Act in an ethical manner and follows the principles of the Ethics Charter and Ethics in Practice Guidelines
