Lead Commissioning Engineer - Mechanical 
Location:
 Sellafield Nuclear Power Station, Cumbria 
Working Hours: 40 hours per week 
 
About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Lead Commissioning Engineer to join our clients team and take ownership of commissioning activities across a high-profile – BEP Project. This role is critical to ensuring safety, quality, and timely delivery of commissioning phases, with a strong emphasis on leadership and technical excellence.

Key Responsibilities
  • Champion safety across all aspects of the project, promoting a zero-harm culture.
  • Lead, organise and manage a team of Commissioning Engineers, Technicians and support resources.
  • Oversee all testing activities throughout the commissioning lifecycle.
  • Supervise the creation and execution of commissioning test documentation.
  • Initiate and implement Field Observation Bulletins (FOBs) and Technical Queries (TQs).
  • Liaise with regulatory compliance representatives to ensure timely witnessing of commissioning activities.
  • Manage and record Temporary Commissioning Aids and supporting test data.
  • Utilise completions management systems for commissioning activities and handovers.
  • Schedule and manage work in alignment with project timelines.
  • Participate in multi-discipline design reviews and collaborate with engineering teams.
  • Drive continuous improvement and ensure progress meets schedule deadlines.
 
Essential Experience & Qualifications
  • Time-served or equivalent in an engineering discipline (preferably mechanical).
  • HNC or equivalent qualification (or working towards).
  • Proven project commissioning experience.
  • Experience with process commissioning, including vessels and pumps.
  • IOSH Managing Safely (or equivalent).
  • Valid CSCS card holder.
