NRL currently have a requirement for a Lead EC&I Engineer to support Sellafield projects in Warrington, though remote working will be required. Please note this role is inside scope of IR35.

G3 Phase 2 is part of a suite of 3 projects supporting externally MOD funded scope.
An element of this project (Requirement 2) requires that a Rise and Fall Platform is modified to accept a new package (flask).

The Rise & Fall Platform Certification has not been maintained over the years and it is now required to be re-assessed and CE (UKCA) marked in accordance with the Supply of Machinery Regulations.
The Rise & Fall Platform (Annex 4 of SoMSR) Technical file has not been updated following modifications and notified body assessments have not been performed since first being placed into service back in 2002.  Work is required to facilitate recertification of the Rise and Fall platform. The high level approach is to identify appropriate harmonised/designated standards, perform a gap analysis against the hEns and close out identified gaps (both documentation & physical mods as needed) as required to enable an EC-type examination by a notified body in accordance with Annex 4 of the SoMSR.

The requirement is for a Lead CE&I engineer with significant experience of safety in engineering and working knowledge of Supply of Machinery Safety Regulations. The engineer shall have previous experience in the identification of and demonstrating compliance with the appropriate harmonised/ designated standards necessary to facilitate CE/UKCA marking of complex machinery.

The Role is to work as part of a multi discipline team, leading on the CE&I elements, to identify the relevant applicable current standards, to assess the currently installed equipment against the identified standards and identify any shortfalls in the existing technical file, to develop a strategy to close out any shortfalls and ultimately to produce an updated technical file for submission to the Notified body and SL SME for final sign off and Certification.

Minimum SL BPSS Security Clearance (SC would be desirable)

Ability to access up to C2/R2 areas on plant for surveys as required (majority of work will be desktop assessment of design information).
