Business Unit Lead (Mechanical & Electrical)

Base Location: Slough, Aldershot & Thatcham

Salary: £Competitive plus bonus and car/car allowance

Working Pattern: Permanent | 37 hours per week | Flexible Working Patterns Available

About the Department

Our client is one of the UK's largest Mechanical and Electrical (M&E) contractors with a product/service portfolio ranging from M&E LV, HV, Instrumentation, Street Lighting, Facilities Management through to Combined Heat and Power solutions.

What is the Role?

Reporting to the Regional M&E Director, as Business Unit lead you will oversee the P&L of our M&E Contracting operations in the Slough region. Our clients span across both the private and public sector and you’ll work closely with your Business development team to further expand our M&E portfolio and presence.

You’ll plan, organise, monitor, control and develop the profitable operation of the Slough business area to ensure the achievement of sustainable business objectives in accordance with the Company’s core values. In addition, you’ll manage a large and diverse team which includes:
-      Estimating
-      Engineering
-      Quality
-      HSE
-      Project administration

What Do I Need?
To be successful in this role you’ll extensive knowledge and understanding of running a business within the M&E contracting industry. You’ll also have demonstrable history of planning and managing work programmes and effective resource utilisation as well as a proven ability to identify, design, quote and deliver profitable business.

You’ll demonstrate excellent commercial awareness to deliver best return for the Company and will possess sound knowledge of and experience in financial planning and control methods. You’ll be an astute contract manager and will have previous experience in managing commercial and contractual risk for an M&E Contractor.

You maybe of an electrical or mechanical engineering background. Or you may have progressed your management skills through M&E surveying or contracts management.

Technically you will be well versed in Mechanical or Electrical practices and will have a thorough understanding of technical drawings and design practices. You’ll be comfortable in your ability to initiate, design, plan, and manage multiple M&E projects.

You’ll need excellent decision making and management skills and considerable experience in achieving excellent business performance through a team. You’ll possess enhanced business development and negotiation skills and will have the ability to develop and motivate your business unit to achieve success.
