NRL are currently recruiting for a permanent Maintenance Technician to work in a manufacturing facility in Sunderland.  
As a Maintenance Technician you would be responsible for ensuring that process, plant and buildings maintenance are carried out to the highest standard in the pursuit of zero business interruption.   

Responsibilities and Duties:  
Health, Safety and Environment
• Ensuring all Health, Safety and Environmental requirements are understood, maintained and continually approved upon.
• Ensure all plant and processes are in safe working order at all times.
• Take prompt action to highlight and rectify if possible any known risks or hazards.
• Ensure all accidents and ‘near misses’ are reported and investigated in accordance with company procedures.
• Carry out regular risk assessments of the processes and plant to ensure all HSE standards are met.
• Ensure housekeeping in working areas is of the highest standard.
• Ensure that the disposal of all waste materials is in accordance with designated waste streams and that all employees are aware of the associated impacts on the general environment.
• Ensure any substances brought on site have all the necessary COSHH documentation.
• Electrical work to be carried out within the limits of authorisation and compliance with latest regulations.  

Quality
• Ensure process are robust and set ups are optimised to reduce scrap and non-conforming product.
• Play an active role in Practical Problem Solving for process / plant related issues.  

Delivery 
• Ensure that plant and process uptime achieves KPI targets as a minimum.
• Communicate planned maintenance programmes closely with PU Manager / Process Leader.
• Support all stock accuracy activities (Stock takes).  

People
• Develop sound working relationships with Process leaders and manufacturing team members.
• Promote and coach TPM and clean and check to all levels.of the business.
• Create and maintain the environment, which encourages the contribution from all team members towards the achievement of improvement goals.
• Management of contractors (Induction, handbook, risk assessments, permits and safe systems)  

Process
• Ensure that all processes are robust, safe and properly maintained through carrying out preventative maintenance and planned maintenance to schedule.
• Maintain and use effectively all maintenance related systems
• Continually monitor process performance through uptime/downtime and capacity to develop action plans for improvement. 
• Always strive to continually improve the process.
• Research and network process / product innovations and best in class practices to improve performance and reduce environmental impact.
• Support with Adhoc duties within Production or Projects as and when requested by the Production Unit Manager.  

Cost
• Lead and create improvement plans for the elimination of waste throughout the process.
• Continually monitor process performance to ensure optimisation.
• Continually monitor and review sub contracted work to ensure quality and value for money.
• Continually monitor and improve the economical usage of spare parts and consumable items.
• Ensure that company policy and procedural disciplines are applied to the management and authorisation of expenditure.    

Who are we looking for?  
Education: HND / HNC in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.  
Experience: Relevant experience in maintenance preferably within an Automotive supply environment, and a time served apprenticeship.
