NRL are currently recruiting for an experienced Materials Handler to work on a contract basis for one of our leading clients at Markinch. From the role profile we are looking for individuals who are certified as Competent Vehicle Banksman and are also certified Mobile Plant Operators - JCB Telehandler and Forklift truck as a minimum. The duration is anticipated to be 6 months to cover some long term sick. 

The work pattern would be shift work: e.g:  Mon/Fri: Early's 06:00-14:00  or Lates 12:00-20:00  Sat: 06:00-13:30

Main Purpose of the Role:
As a member of the Operations and Maintenance Team, you will contribute towards delivering on the day to day operational and maintenance requirements to maximize the safe, reliable and commercial performance of the station. The Materials Handling Personnel responsibilities will ensure the efficient and safe handling of fuel to the CHP Plant in line with site procedures, as well as maintaining compliance with statutory health, safety and environmental provisions. You will also contribute to the site maintenance / housekeeping with your capabilities as directed. You will be expected to perform operational duties on a shift basis as required and be competent in mobile plant operation. This post offers the opportunity to work flexibly in a site team environment and experience a wide range of operations and maintenance responsibilities to the delivery of the continuous improvement agenda and to maximise the flexibility and potential of the Station within the HC&G UK portfolio.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Health, Safety and Environmental compliance
  • Ensure safe Operational practices are implemented including across any shifts being covered.
  • Support targets and initiatives relating to health, safety, wellbeing and environment, including Mission Zero, NWoW and Business KPIs.
  • Manage and supervise the fuel delivery vehicles
  • Nominated as Competent Vehicle Banksman.
  • Ensure that the deliveries to site (all supplies) are properly administered through the site weighbridge system and that the system is not bypassed unless there is a process requirement. Take record and store fuel quality samples.
  • Operate mobile plant in accordance with recognised station standards
  • Achieve certification in the operation of mobile plant
  • Outage support
  • Assisting on projects and outage teams delivering general maintenance of plant dependent on individual competence.
  • Flexible working
  • Provide support for plant breakdown and outage works inclusive of appropriate out of hours and weekend working to meet the needs of the business.
  • Application of the safe systems of work associated with Material Handling activities (e.g. Putting People to Work & RWE Safety Rules) which may include taking on nominated duties under the rules as required.
  • Ensure that appropriate standards are being applied and adhered to by everyone - in accordance with RWE’s rules and procedures.
Knowledge & Skills:
  • Experience of an industrial environment, preferably in Materials Handling and logistics.
  • Experience of mobile plant operation
  • Have strong interpersonal skills and be competent in the use of applicable business IT systems such as Microsoft Office
  • Be a self-motivated, flexible individual able to work with the minimum of supervision, whilst being capable of providing support to the team
  • Demonstrable knowledge and experience of Health, Safety and Environmental legislation, regulations and directives
