Our client, a leading UK power generator/ site asset owner, are now on the lookout for Mechanical Engineer to support with outage work scope planning for major overhaul works on one of their Biomass assets in central Scotland. This is an exciting opportunity to join the Static Mechanical Engineering Team in Biomass Engineering and Outage for a 9 month period. The primary objective is to plan, deliver and close out relevant site overhaul mechanical works. This may also require supporting projects, plant modifications/developments as part of outage planning and delivery. As part of the wider portfolio team, the Static Mechanical Engineer provides end-to-end support to the asset within their area of discipline. Project and task allocation will be via the Head of Static Mechanical and Materials Engineering, in collaboration with the asset Operations & Maintenance teams and Asset Management. Work location will be predominantly based on site in teh Fife area.

 
  • Play a leading and active role in managing safety: live our performance and Mission Zero safety culture and climate
  • Perform the role as Discipline Lead or Work Package Manager in the upcoming 2026 overhaul
  • Works will need to be scoped, prepared and planned in advance of the overhaul
  • During the overhaul works should be managed safely to high quality standards and to agreed durations and budget
  • Assisting in planning of budgets and tracking costs
  • Work within a multi-disciplinary team to efficiently plan and safely deliver outages, commission and return the plant to service in a structured and safe manner
  • Actively support the need to develop cross-discipline skills & work flexibly to support each other irrespective of their background discipline

Job requirements and experience 


  • Strong HSE and wellbeing mindset
  • Have a recognised background in Mechanical Engineering and HND (or equivalent) level of qualification, A degree in an engineering discipline would be an advantage.
  • Possess a technical knowledge of fuel handling equipment, in particular conveyor systems. Experience with large bearings, lubrication systems, slewing devices and drag chains would be advantageous.
  • Several years of professional experience in the energy sector or other process industry
  • Have strong interpersonal skills and be competent in the use of applicable business IT systems such as Microsoft Office and SAP
  • Flexible and agile in their approach to supporting the portfolio through flexible working hours and application of skills. Ability and flexibility to retrain and to take on new skill sets
