We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Review and Acceptance Engineer to support the review and acceptance of engineering queries across Conventional Island and Nuclear Island equipment scope. Reporting to an Engineering Lead within the JDO, the role focuses on working with Turnkey contractors and interfacing with a range of site and project stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
- Technical Review & Response: Evaluate and respond to technical submissions from Turnkey Contractors, including general engineering queries, non-conformance, change requests, and exemption requests, engaging Responsible Designers or site specialists where necessary.
- Safety & Regulatory Compliance: Ensure that all reviewed activities and solutions meet Nuclear Safety and Environmental regulatory requirements.
- Design Governance: Critically review and challenge engineering and design proposals to confirm alignment with overall project objectives and strategy.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Support the coordination of technical input from internal teams and external organisations to enable timely and effective issue resolution.
- Issue Closure: Play an active role in progressing and closing outstanding engineering issues and Open Points.
- Risk Management: Identify, evaluate, and manage technical risks, ensuring appropriate mitigation actions are implemented.
- Engineering Interface: Build and maintain effective working relationships with EDF EPR Engineering in their role as Responsible Designer.
- Operational Reporting: Provide updates and technical input to the Engineering Lead as part of day-to-day delivery.
Qualifications & Experience:
- A degree, or equivalent qualification, in a relevant engineering discipline.
- Proven experience applying broad, multi-disciplinary engineering knowledge within a nuclear environment.
- Strong understanding of construction and installation practices and processes.
- Working knowledge of Health & Safety legislation, including CDM regulations and Nuclear Site Licence requirements.
- Experience or technical understanding of welding engineering principles.
- Demonstrated ability to engage, influence, and work effectively with a wide range of stakeholders, particularly in operational site-based settings.
