NRL are currently recruiting for Phase 2a AMS Project Manager to work with one of our engineering clients supporting phase 2a of the High Speed 2 project. The role will be based in Birmingham and on an initial 6 month contract.

Role Responsibilities:
  • HS2 has committed to construct the new railway in accordance with the provisions of the hybrid Bill and the Assurances and Undertakings that have been provided to key stakeholders along the route. These Assurances and Undertakings will require HS2 to provide specific aspects of the work to an agreed manner in order to mitigate their impact to these key stakeholders;
  • Be accountable to the Head of Early works for the identification, collation and management of all U&A delivery schemes which are either, time bound, involve funding agreements, gaining additional consents or involve delivery using powers outside the limits of the Phase 2a Act;
  • Work with delivery project managers, P2a Land Team, Land and Property etc to manage schemes to successful delivery and provide high levels of commitment to parties subject to such undertakings;
  • Manage complex cross party relationships with affected land owners, residents etc, providing ongoing support and management to cases where HS2 has construction or management commitments
  • Working with the Third Party Agreements team, establish and manage any finding or construction agreements necessary to discharge Undertakings.
  • Working with the Interface and Engagement team and delivery project managers, collate information to produce and maintain Management Plans for key line of route stakeholders.  Stakeholder Plans identify programme issues, requirement updates, constraints on construction methodology, environmental and planning interfaces and key risks
  • Research and understand the Assurance and Undertakings for these key stakeholders.  Working with the responsible delivery project managers, identify the extent of the works required and ensure that all aspects of the design, construction, land and property issues will comply with the Assurance and Undertakings
  • Ensure that the HS2 Environmental, Planning and Consents team are aware of specific measures that affects the stakeholder and HS2’s ability to meet their requirements
  • Working with the Community engagement team and HS2 communications team to ensure consistent information is being issued
  • Support the HS2 Community Liaison strategy and help prepare information and documents for public events and presentations.

  • IT skills including MS office literate
  • Ability to process information accurately across multiple data sources
  • Communication skills – including the ability to present complex information to various stakeholders
  • Ability to develop relationships, to foster trust and to empathise with stakeholder perspectives
  • Organisation skills – including the ability to meet deadlines
  • Ability to understand construction programmes
  • Knowledge of undertakings and assurances
  • Knowledge of project management principles
  • Knowledge of construction or rail industry
  • Experience in one or more of the following categories: Railway engineering, Highway engineering, Station Design, Commercial Agreements, Environmental and Planning Consents
  • Experience in diverse stakeholder management, including engineering / construction and technical interfaces
  • Experience of developing, delivering and measuring stakeholder engagement within large and complex organisations with an engineering and operational frontline.
