Principal Electrical Package Engineer

Role Overview
Seeking an experienced Principal Electrical Package Engineer to provide technical leadership across key electrical equipment packages during FEED and EPC phases. The role is responsible for full technical ownership of assigned packages, ensuring compliance with project specifications, client requirements, company procedures, quality standards, and all applicable IEC, IEEE, NFPA, BS and international codes.
The engineer will drive all engineering, vendor management, manufacturing oversight, testing, installation support, and commissioning activities within project budgets, man-hour allocations, and schedule targets.
Key Package Scope
The role’s primary technical responsibility covers:
- E-House Packages including 4 kV switchgear, 400 V switchgear, and AC & DC UPS systems
- 365 MVA, 400 kV / 19 kV Power Transformer
- 386 MVA, 19 kV Generator (Synchronous Condenser)
Key Responsibilities
Engineering & Technical Delivery
- Develop electrical package specifications, datasheets, design documentation, and requisitions.
- Lead Technical Bid Evaluations (TBEs), technical clarifications, and design review meetings.
- Review and approve vendor drawings, calculations, and engineering deliverables.
- Ensure all package designs meet project requirements, client and internal standards, and all applicable international and national codes.
- Define interfaces between assigned packages and other engineering disciplines (power systems, mechanical, instrumentation, civil, etc.).
- Identify technical design risks and support development and implementation of mitigation strategies.
- Act as the lead technical contact for all vendor/OEM communications during FEED and EPC phases.
- Review vendor proposals and provide approvals, comments, and recommendations.
- Ensure the timely submission and quality compliance of vendor documentation.
- Oversee vendor manufacturing, testing activities, and adherence to contractual and HSE requirements.
- Prepare and review FAT procedures and support Factory Acceptance Testing.
- Produce inspection reports, deviation logs, and technical close-out documentation.
- Ensure safe design principles and HSE considerations are embedded throughout design, manufacturing, and testing phases.
- Support schedule, procurement, and cost management for assigned electrical packages.
- Coordinate with project controls, procurement, construction, commissioning, and multi‑discipline teams to ensure integrated project delivery.
- Provide installation and commissioning technical support where required.
- Produce as-built documentation and complete handover packages.
The Principal Electrical Package Engineer will be accountable for producing and delivering:
- Package specifications, datasheets, requisitions, and design documentation
- Technical Bid Evaluations (TBEs) and technical clarifications
- Vendor drawing/calculation reviews and approvals
- FAT procedures, reports, and inspection records
- Technical queries (TQs), deviation logs, and close-out documentation
- As-built and handover documentation packages
