Project Manager – Piping
Location: Site Based – Hinkley Point C (HPC)
Reporting to: Construction Manager

We are seeking an experienced Project Manager – Piping to lead and deliver site-based piping construction works on a major, complex project at Hinkley Point C. This is a critical role responsible for the safe, high-quality, and efficient execution of piping activities from mobilisation through to final handover.

Key Responsibilities
Project Planning & Execution
  • Develop and implement detailed execution plans, construction schedules, and methodologies for piping works.
  • Plan and manage manpower, equipment, materials, and subcontractor resources to meet project milestones.
  • Coordinate closely with engineering, procurement, and construction teams to ensure constructability and timely availability of drawings and materials.
  • Monitor construction progress and implement corrective actions to address delays or deviations.
Construction Management
  • Manage all site piping activities including fabrication, erection, welding, NDT, pressure testing, flushing, reinstatement, and mechanical completion.
  • Ensure construction procedures, method statements, and permit-to-work systems are correctly implemented.
  • Lead, supervise, and support construction managers, supervisors, engineers, and foremen.
  • Interface with other disciplines to ensure integrated and coordinated project execution.
Health, Safety & Environment (HSE)
  • Enforce strict compliance with HSE policies, procedures, and project-specific safety plans.
  • Promote a strong safety culture through toolbox talks, safety meetings, and audits.
  • Ensure all activities comply with risk assessments, JSAs, and permit-to-work requirements.
  • Investigate incidents and implement corrective and preventive actions.
Quality Assurance & Control
  • Ensure compliance with applicable piping codes and standards (ASME, ANSI, API, ISO, etc.).
  • Oversee QA/QC activities including material traceability, welding qualifications, inspection, and testing.
  • Review and approve ITPs and coordinate client and third-party inspections.
  • Ensure accurate documentation for mechanical completion and handover.
Cost Control & Commercial Support
  • Manage budgets related to piping construction works.
  • Track costs, productivity, and resource utilisation, implementing corrective actions where required.
  • Review and approve variations, claims, and change orders.
  • Support progress measurement and invoicing activities.
Stakeholder & Client Coordination
  • Act as the main point of contact for all piping construction matters.
  • Chair progress meetings and prepare detailed reports covering schedule, cost, quality, and safety.
  • Resolve technical, commercial, and execution issues collaboratively.
Risk, Change & Closeout
  • Identify construction risks and develop effective mitigation strategies.
  • Manage scope, schedule, and resource changes with minimal project impact.
  • Lead mechanical completion, system walkdowns, punch list clearance, and pre-commissioning.
  • Ensure as-built documentation, test packs, and handover dossiers are complete and approved.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • 10–15 years’ experience in piping construction, including at least 5 years in a project management or senior construction role.
  • Strong knowledge of piping construction practices, welding, inspection, and international standards.
  • Proven experience managing large multidisciplinary teams and subcontractors on complex projects.

  • Proficient in project management tools and construction reporting systems.
