About the Role
Our client is seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead and deliver engineering and technical projects to budget, time, and quality standards. You will manage matrix teams, combining in-house and subcontract resources, and take full commercial control of allocated projects to achieve agreed margins. This is a hands-on role requiring strong leadership, technical expertise, and client-facing skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Take profit and loss responsibility for allocated projects.
- Lead projects from inception to completion, ensuring delivery without LADs.
- Assemble and manage matrix teams using internal and external resources.
- Develop and maintain strategic and operational programmes aligned with client processes (e.g., RIBA plan of work).
- Ensure compliance with quality assurance, health & safety, CDM regulations, and company policies.
- Manage subcontractors and consultants, including tendering, evaluation, and contract administration.
- Maintain high standards of health & safety and statutory compliance on all sites.
- Provide accurate management information for pipeline, cashflow, and budget reporting.
- Identify and develop new business opportunities within and beyond existing contracts.
- Support integration with other contracts for mutual benefit.
- Professional qualification: RICS, CIOB, CEng, or equivalent in a construction/engineering discipline.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in contracting or project management consultancy.
- Proven ability to deliver projects end-to-end under various contracting arrangements.
- Strong financial acumen with P&L responsibility for projects (combined value circa £5m).
- Excellent leadership and team-building skills with experience managing technical and trade staff.
- Outstanding communication and client-facing skills.
- Security vetting or willingness to comply with vetting requirements.
- Ability to travel as required.
