Location: Markinch Power Station
We are seeking an experienced Quality Control Engineer / Advisor to support the successful delivery of overhaul projects at Markinch Power Station. This key role ensures all work meets required quality standards, supporting both on-site and workshop activities in close collaboration with Project Management and Work Package Managers.
The successful candidate will drive continuous improvement, maintain quality systems, and uphold the highest standards of safety and technical excellence throughout all phases of project delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and deliver the project QA system, ensuring all technical and quality standards are achieved.
- Support Work Package Managers in executing inspections and preparing concise project reports.
- Assess OEM and contractor quality procedures, ensuring proper implementation and compliance.
- Evaluate and report on contractor quality performance, follow up on corrective actions, and maintain Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs).
- Conduct quality walks across supplier sites and work areas within the overhaul scope.
- Minimise rework and post-outage reliability issues through effective documentation and inspection control.
- Support the Project and Programme Management teams in achieving safe, efficient, and compliant project delivery.
- Provide daily quality progress reports and actively participate in overhaul meetings.
- Contribute to the development of QA/QC procedures and business improvement initiatives.
- Significant experience in quality assurance and control within power station maintenance or similar heavy engineering environments.
- Proven experience with gas and steam turbine overhauls, as well as pumps, gearboxes, and balance-of-plant equipment.
- Practical experience in piping and valve repair/erection, ideally to EN standards.
- Strong background in welding and NDE techniques (TIG, SMAW, UT, PT, MT); welding inspector qualification or equivalent visual inspection competency preferred.
- HNC (or higher) in a relevant Engineering discipline; professional body membership desirable.
- Excellent attention to detail, methodical approach, and strong organisational skills.
- Able to work autonomously while maintaining close collaboration with the wider project team.
- Sound understanding of Health & Safety legislation and its practical application in power generation environments.
- Demonstrated ability to promote a positive quality culture and build strong relationships across teams.
- Experience managing and maintaining Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs).
