Overview
We are currently recruiting for a Quality Controller to join a well-established engineering and manufacturing organisation. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring that products and services meet defined quality, compliance, and customer standards across all business activities.
This role would suit someone with a strong background in quality control within a manufacturing or fabrication environment, who is confident working with inspection equipment, technical drawings, and quality documentation.
Please note: Due to the nature of the work, candidates must be British Nationals and able to obtain the relevant security clearance.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute quality processes and procedures, reporting any quality variances to the Quality Manager
- Support the continuous improvement of quality processes, inspection methods, and lessons learned
- Monitor and control calibrated equipment and verification tools across all sites
- Ensure full traceability of inspected components to purchase orders and project numbers
- Inspect incoming goods (including kits) to ensure compliance with purchase order requirements, documentation, and certification
- Identify, document, and manage non-conforming products, defects, and deviations
- Conduct dimensional, visual, and functional inspections using equipment such as CMM arms, micrometres, and verniers
- Maintain accurate quality records using internal systems (e.g. MRP, compliance software, and written formats)
- Carry out in-process and final inspections of internally manufactured components and fabrications, including weld inspections
- Verify that all products meet project, drawing, specification, and industry standard requirements
- Ensure NDT inspections are completed where required and that reports are issued in a timely manner
- Liaise with suppliers, subcontractors, paint applicators, and client inspection teams as required
- Support the creation of inspection plans, routings, and quality documentation
- Produce and manage Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) and assist with root cause analysis
- Ensure despatch documentation is complete and accompanies finished goods
- Promote and comply with all Health & Safety, SHEQ, and COSHH requirements
- Undertake any additional duties appropriate to the role
- NCRs relating to shortages or non-conforming goods
- NCRs on outsourced components
- On Time Delivery In Full (OTIF)
- Customer feedback and issue resolution timeframes
- Apprentice trained or demonstrable experience in a similar quality or manufacturing environment
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and work instructions
- Strong understanding of manufacturing tolerances and industry standards
- Experience using inspection equipment such as CMM arms, micrometres, and verniers
- Knowledge of materials and their properties
- Strong attention to detail with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Competent IT skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
- Confident communicator with the ability to liaise at all levels internally and externally
- Ability to work independently, manage workload, and use initiative
- Willingness to work additional hours when required
- FLT and overhead crane licences (desirable or site-approved training provided)
