NRL are currently recruiting for a Senior Architect to work with an engineering consultancy to be based out of either their London, Birmingham or Manchester office. This is a contract position and would be within IR35.

About the role:

A Senior Architect will be responsible for:
  • The delivery of technical outputs of projects and the seamless sharing of information with other discipline teams.
  • Ensuring technical quality through implementation of best practice and continuous improvement processes.
  • Develop and maintaining excellent client relationships through successful project execution.
  • Develop talent by coaching and mentoring less experienced staff and supporting their technical career development aspirations.
  • Management of project resources and reporting to the Team Principal.
  • Assisting in the preparation of technical and commercial bid proposals.
What you will need:

The role will require:
  • Relevant experience in the design, specification and procurement of building structures to the relevant standards;
  • ARB Registered and member of a relevant professional body, or equivalent level of experience;
  • Ability in the architectural design and delivery of projects to a high quality, from concept to completion;
  • Ability to use to use Revit, AutoCAD etc.
  • Ability to undertake structural inspections and report on material and construction defects and provide guidance for remedial repairs;
  • Ability to lead a team of designers within a project, liaising directly with clients, engineers and other design team members;
  • Experience in the successful management of the design of projects;
  • Experience and understanding of multi-disciplinary design processes;
  • Represent Jacobs at external meetings;
  • Sound knowledge of BIM and the ability to implement the use 3D design processes on projects;
  • Ability to develop designs to eliminate health and safety risks within the design.
  • Experience utilising and interpreting Joint Service Publication (JSP) documentation.
  • An awareness of the current challenges within the UK defence environment.

  • Be highly effective communication and influencing skills, including the ability to quickly establish rapport and present complex ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences;
  • Have experience of leading and managing teams and individuals, engaging and motivating staff to deliver effective, customer focused solutions;
  • Be committed to continuing professional and leadership development;
  • Experience and sound knowledge of the military environment across the MoD’s defence Estates (Army, Royal Air Force and Royal Navy) and appreciation of the unique challenges of operating in the associated environments, e.g. Airfields, Dockyards.
  • Understanding of specific architectural considerations around military establishments; e.g. Counter Terrorism, Secure building types, armouries etc.
  • Experienced in applying the Dangerous Substances and Explosive Atmospheres Regulations (DSEAR) and Weapons, Ordnance, Munitions & Explosives (WOME) considerations to Architectural designs
  • Good standard of report writing skills
