NRL are currently recruiting for an experienced Senior Stress Engineer to work on a contract basis for one of our leading clients within the nuclear industry. Please note this role has been deemed inside IR35 and will be based in Stoke Gifford, South Gloucestershire. 

About The Role:
  • Demonstrable experience in stress analysis covering a variety of tasks across a range of complexities.
  • Demonstrable experience in the application of codes and standard covering a range of equipment types.
  • Nuclear industry or other safety or regulated industry preferred.
  • To undertake engineering conceptual and detailed calculations in the delivery of customer funded tasks and projects. Work will be directed and supervised by the Technical Lead and/or Functional Lead for the relevant task or project. May act as a Technical Lead or Functional Lead themselves (dependent on task/project complexity) and hence may supervise others.
What You Will Need:
  • Chartered Engineer preferred however consideration will be given to those working towards chartered status.
  • Engineering or Science degree qualified.
  • Work in accordance with the Being Cavendish Nuclear Principles.
  • Ensuring that procedures, codes and standards are correctly identified and applied to engineering and technical activities.
  • Producing, reviewing, verifying and approving calculations, analyses and technical reports.
  • Producing, reviewing, verifying and approving technical specifications and method statements.
  • Supporting estimates for bids.
  • Supervising engineers/technical specialists within the same discipline.
  • Ensuring that a fit for purpose approach is adopted in the production of all outputs.
  • Ensuring that adequate Reviewing, Verifying & Approval is undertaken on all their deliverables and for those under their direct control and supervision.
  • Competent in developing Finite Element models and undertaking linear and non-linear analysis.
  • Competent in the assessment of structural/mechanical equipment against UK and/or European design codes. Ideally familiar with BS2573, BS EN 13001, BS7608, BS 5950.
  • Competent in a wide range of classical stress analysis techniques for assessing mechanical and structural equipment.
  • The ability to identify load paths and recommend design changes to ensure fit for purpose design before detailed analysis.
  • Competency in seismic analysis preferred.
