Site Engineer

Location - Walpole & Wymondley

Start Date: 26th August 2025

Contract: 6-month rolling (2-year project)

Rate: £400/day LTD

Hours: 50 hours/week (5 x 10-hour days)

About the Role:

NRL are seeking dedicated Site Engineers to join our clients team at sites at Walpole and Wymondley. This is a full-time, site-based contingency role supporting the delivery of a major infrastructure project. You’ll work closely with the Site Manager to oversee construction activities, coordinate subcontractors, and ensure quality and safety standards are met.


Key Responsibilities

  • Interpret and maintain site drawings and construction documentation.

  • Set out, level, and survey the site.

  • Verify subcontractor works and ensure compliance with AFC drawings.

  • Maintain site records, QA documentation, and as-built data.

  • Coordinate temporary works and issue Permits to Dig.

  • Liaise with clients, subcontractors, and consultants.

  • Support health & safety and quality assurance activities.

  • Lead by example in SHE (Safety, Health & Environmental) compliance.

  • Manage RFIs, technical queries, and handover documentation.

Requirements

  • CSCS or CCNSG Safety Passport.

  • National Grid Person certification.

  • IOSH Managing Safely, SMSTS or SSSTS.

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in T&D industry (preferably National Grid sites).

  • Temporary Works Coordinator/Supervisor experience.

  • Strong understanding of engineering drawings and substation installation (including civils).

  • Excellent communication, organisational, and leadership skills.

  • Ability to travel nationally and work on-site in challenging environments.

Desirable Qualifications

  • National Grid Competent Person NSI 6 & 8.

  • EUSR HSG47.

  • First Aid certification.

  • IOSH Environmental or equivalent.
