NRL are currently recruiting for a System Integration Senior Engineer to work with a client of ours, on an initial 6 month contract. The role will be mostly remote, with occasional trips to the Milton Keynes office required.


Responsibilities:

  • Integration of railway systems within and at the boundaries of an area or railway system.

  • Configuration of whole life railway systems’ requirements to align to Programme configuration states and in line with the Integrated Programme lifecycle stages.

  • Authoring Works Information and design remits for issue to Technical Partner, Development Partners, Surveyors and Works Contractors.

  • Controlling and supporting the execution of integrated design for the nominated System(s) of Interest.

  • Assuring the whole life system requirements for a nominated System or Area are configured by the Technical Partner in line with the whole life system requirements.

  • Assuring technical compliance through appropriate Verification & Validation and technical approvals.

  • Challenging requirements to ensure that our client delivers functionality that delivers the whole railway solution (operationally and systematically) and meets legislative requirements and industry standards.

  • Implementing our client’s system engineering and managing technical risks by directing Development Partners.

  • Managing and accelerating engineering innovation in relation to meet our client’s challenges.

  • Acting as a role model for our client’s vision and values, by supporting the commitment to customer service, promoting diversity in the workplace, adopting appropriate behaviour when interacting with colleagues, and encouraging and supporting others to do the same.

  • Your own and others’ health and safety by adopting and working to our client’s Health and Safety principles, ensuring you always follow safe working procedures.



Requirements:

  • Chartered or Incorporated engineer, or equivalent professional experience and training in the field of engineering or the equivalent in a technical and/or scientific discipline.

  • Applied the engineering lifecycle including requirements, specification, design, build and maintenance and verification and validation in relation to your specialism.

  • Railway systems specification and design, including interface definition and management and control of same on a multidisciplinary programme.

  • Detailed understanding of at least one railway system, what its critical dependencies and interfaces are (including operational ones) and how this should be managed and controlled on a safety critical programme.

  • Owning decision making of your system of interest

  • Developing solutions by collaborating with peers and stakeholders.

  • Experience of change management, adapting to emerging requirements, changing circumstances, high levels of uncertainty and ambiguity in a fast‐changing environment.

  • • Working within relevant UK rail industry legislation and standards.

  • Specification, design and implementation of railway systems preferably gained on mainline or light railways.

  • Delivery and assurance of integrated safety critical solutions within large scale and technically complex projects.

  • Analysis of complex data, drawing effective conclusions and rapidly producing solutions and decisions.

  • Good communication with the ability to promote and execute Technical Strategy and Plans.

  • System Integration, Interface Management, Specification, System Acceptance of same and associated approaches and techniques.

  • Innovation and change management, including best practice continuous improvement methodologies.

  • Risk management and control and best practice architecture and requirements management tools and methodologies.
