About the role:
The position exists to provide the necessary detailed technical welding knowledge required to support the business on a day-to-day basis. Working as part of a team, the jobholder should be technically capable of determining welder approval and procedure qualification test requirements and taking testing through to completion. Maintaining the welder qualification register and welder audits in accordance with ISO 3834-2 are also included with the role.
What you will need:
- NVQ Level 3 in Welding and Fabrication, or a degree in Metallurgy / Material Science or a background in an engineering or science based discipline, or perhaps CSWIP 3.1
- Experience of steel and other material fabrication
- An understanding of weld procedures, welder approval testing and weld procedure qualification
- A detailed knowledge of relevant workshops fabrication and welding processes
- The ability to identify the origin and cause of fabrication and welding defects
- Effective presentation skills
- Self motivated with a willingness to work towards European Welding Engineer status
