Stavanger
Stavanger is the oil capital of Norway, and its most important port. The biggest city in Western Norway, it offers coastal views, historic maritime architecture and lots of sunshine. Stavanger has a population of around 130,000 people.
Stavanger is recognised worldwide as a leader in the advances of offshore petroleum, and it is considered the oil capital of the North Sea. The engineering sector in Stavanger also consists of a wide range of companies, from large international corporations to small local start-ups.
There are regular local buses with connections to all parts of Stavanger. The main train station is Jernbanestasjonen, which has frequent trains running north to Bergen, Oslo and south-west to Kristiansand.
