Tyne and Wear
Tyne and Wear is a county in North East England. It is made up of several metropolitan boroughs, including Sunderland, Newcastle upon Tyne and South Tyneside, as well as non-metropolitan districts such as Gateshead, North Tyneside and Northumberland.
The engineering sector in Tyne and Wear is an important part of the local economy. It supports around 100,000 jobs and has seen strong growth over the past years, with £2.8bn of investment across the North East.
Tyne and Wear is a major transport hub for the North East, located at the junction of the A1(M), A19, A1 and M62 motorways. Major rail services include Tyne and Wear Metro, East Coast Mainline, Newcastle-Edinburgh rail link, TransPennine Express routes between York, Leeds, Manchester, Liverpool, Sheffield and regular ferries to North Shields.
