Our client has a STAFF opportunity for a HSSQ Advisor - Fife

This is a permanent position not Contract - Candidates MUST be uk resident

About the role:

This position is for a  HSSQ Advisor capable of providing support and assistance and continuous raising of the bar on health, safety, sustainability and quality performance across multiple projects; a key individual in the Region’s Operational and Project Management Teams.


The role reports to the HSSQ Manager and forms a significant part of the HSSQ team in delivering.
  • Assist in project start-ups, providing advice and guidance to ensure company standards are set and achieved from project commencement
  • Support and upskill operational leaders in the development of project specific HSSQ documentation, including but not limited to Construction Phase Plans, Quality Plans, Environmental Management Plans, Inspection and Test Plans, Method Statements and Risk Assessments
  • Support the implementation of SHED, Visual Standards and  strategy and initiatives
  • New starter induction training for Project Managers/Supervisors, ensuring understanding and access (Spheracloud and Sharepoint) to key requirements and documentation within the IMS, company standards, policies, and procedures
  • Actively assist, take part in and facilitate the delivery and completion of 3rd party certification audits
  • Self-manage workload in alignment with regional project requirements, in coordination with Regional HSSQ Manager and Operational leaders. Provide proactive HSSQ guidance and assistance, adequately apportioning your time in line with project risk and performance monitoring.
  • Challenge the norm and capture improvement ideas and innovation in the pursuit of continuous improvements, including proactive and positive contribution to HSSQ department and project operations meetings
  • Monitor HSSQ performance, across all assigned regional projects, against HSSQ strategy, targets, and objectives, KPIs, policy, procedures, HSSQ management system requirements and legislatio
Experience you will need:


This role is best suited to a highly collaborative and influential HSSQ champion and specialist who has a strong sense of and enjoys being part of a team. A hands-on, leader-by-example, who is willing to jump in and roll up their sleeves to assist operational teams with first-hand HSSQ knowledge and expertise. An effective communicator who can stimulate and motivate others while being aware of and responsive to their needs and concerns.

Must hold at least one of the following qualifications (Essential):
  • NEBOSH National Certificate in Construction Safety and Health OR NEBOSH General Certificate
  • NVQ/SVQ Level 5 in Occupational Safety and Health Job Description and Person Specification: Role: Regional HSEQ Advisor Function: HSEQ
  • Occupational Health and Safety degree e.g. BSc (Hons) or MSc
  • NEBOSH Diploma in Occupational Safety and Health Part 2, NEBOSH Units A, B, C and D
  • Diploma Safety Management Level 6
  • Environmental and sustainability qualifications and knowledge advantageous.
  • Understanding of certificated management systems, third party auditing experience and knowledge.
  • Ability to work under pressure, in a busy and constantly changing environment, and react to change as required.
  • Self-starter with the ability to prioritise and manage workload effectively.
  • Outstanding teamwork skills and attention to detail.
  • To communicate effectively and maintain working relationships with colleagues and customers.
  • Attention to detail, accurate completion, and development of internal and external reports.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Use of Microsoft Office applications.

You will have a minimum of 5 years’ experience in a civil and/or similar industry, heavy industry or high risk environment and have worked in a relatable professional role previously (e.g. SHE Advisor, HSE , Sustainability & Environmental Advisor) on a medium/ large scale including design and build projects across a variety of sectors and have experience advising a region, both pre contract and during contract, with varying Civil & Structural M & Fit Out, Asbestos & Demolition deliverables.
