NRL’s client based in Grangemouth is looking to recruit a Mechanical Engineer – Asset Care on a Permanent staff basis.

About the role:

  • The post holder will be accountable for the development and implementation of Asset Care Policies for their discipline within assigned Refinery Assets. The post holder will be responsible for regulatory compliance and the implementation of new and changing standards for assigned Refinery Assets.
  • This role shall provide discipline engineering expertise and support to the Asset in delivering plant integrity and availability; this will be achieved through the application of the Asset Care Policy.
  • The Mechnical Asset Care Engineer will be required to develop the supporting implementation plan and budget requirements to ensure delivery of Asset Care and planned reliability improvement.
  • As the post holder, The Mechnical Asset Care Engineer is responsible for the work-scope definition of Cycle Ending Turnarounds for their Asset and will be an integral part of the execution team.
  • Provision of discipline engineering within the Refinery/Offsite Engineering Teams to ensure required technical input to deliver integrity, safety and reliability of the maintenance, plant modification and operation of the Asset. This will include support for RBI, vulnerabilities and RCFA reviews
  • Audit the Asset Inspection process to ensure the inspection schedule complies with Statutory and Integrity requirement. This will include ensuring all item have suitable inspection schedules, approval of written schemes of examination, and endorsement of execution plans to ensure Asset integrity is not compromised
  • Authorise all repair programs resulting from inspection reports to ensure that the Asset plant integrity standards are delivered.
  • Define, implement and monitor effectiveness of the Asset Care Policies in delivery of the Asset integrity and reliability targets. Ensuring appropriate asset life plans, spares and PM¿s exist for equipment
  • Advise the Engineering Manager that budgets and resource planning are adequate to deliver the annual Asset Care implementation plan
  • Ensure that the MMS (Maintenance Management System) database for all equipment has the correct technical details, master maintenance documents and properly schedules preventive maintenance to achieve the Asset Care Policy.
  • Develop, recommend, and install (where appropriate) engineering improvements for the asset equipment to achieve the agreed asset improvement targets.
  • Responsible for the compilation of the work-list for respective discipline for Asset cycle ending TAR that will deliver future integrity and reliability targets
  • Integral member of the cycle ending turnaround execution team, providing technical discipline expertise to ensure the executed scope is aligned with Asset Care Policies and to the required quality to deliver asset integrity and reliability targets
  • Define the engineering workscope requirements associated with Asset Interventions for emergent repairs or catalyst works to ensure plant downtime is minimised and works carried out as required to deliver future asset operational performance
  • Ensure appropriate annual CAPEX and EM (Exceptional Maintenance) submissions to ensure critical material items are available to the Asset as insurance spares or in support of Asset Turnaround programme and integrity & reliability targets are achieved
  • Provide Mechanical support to assist the maintenance teams in non-routine activities e.g. defining quality requirements, defining workscopes & management of change documentation for temporary repairs
  • Provide discipline engineering expertise and support for their assigned Refinery Assets to deliver rotating machinery availability and integrity
  • Implementation and custodians of the Machinery Asset Care Policies for the Refinery, responsible for defining the strategy for routine maintenance, spares holdings and frequency of major overhauls to ensure availability and reliability of equipment on site.
  • Set the quality requirements for critical machinery and spares overhauls / replacement, and ensure contractor compliance with standards to ensure reliability of overhauled equipment
  • As the technical expert, lead investigations into machinery failures through routine root cause analysis to identify opportunity to eliminate failures and improve MTBF

What you will need?

  • Engineering Degree in Discipline
  • Chartered Status preferred but not essential
  • Relevant experience within a petrochemical industry
  • As a professional Engineer demonstrates thorough understanding and application of engineering discipline including knowledge of appropriate engineering standards and application
