The NRL Group We are seeking a Piping Site Quality Engineer to join a major nuclear power plant construction project in the United Kingdom. This role focuses on the piping system erection scope, ensuring all installation activities meet the highest quality standards and comply with strict regulatory requirements.
What will the role consist of?
- Ensure timely communication and facilitation of all Witness and Hold Points as outlined in Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), maintaining compliance with contractual and regulatory requirements.
- Evaluate and approve quality-related documents, including ITPs, welding procedures, and material certificates.
- Witness inspections and testing activities on piping systems to verify adherence to standards.
- Coordinate with external inspectors and regulatory authorities to secure necessary inspections and approvals.
- Identify and report deviations, initiate corrective actions, and confirm the effectiveness of resolutions.
- Maintain accurate documentation and traceability of piping components and welds.
- Ensure inspection and test records, along with quality documentation, are submitted accurately and on time.
- Contribute to root cause analyses and improvement initiatives related to piping system erection quality.
- Uphold nuclear safety and quality assurance standards throughout the erection process.
- Participate in quality audits and support the development of quality improvement plans.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field.
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in quality engineering in piping system within large-scale industrial or nuclear construction projects.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical erection processes and quality standards.
- Familiarity with nuclear safety and regulatory requirements (PESR-PED).
- Valid certification in non-destructive testing (NDT)
Professional Experience:
- Strong expertise in welding procedures, non-destructive testing (NDT) techniques, and inspection practices.
- Skilled in interpreting engineering drawings, technical specifications, and quality documentation.
- Proficient in using quality management systems and digital inspection tools.
- Effective communication and reporting abilities for collaboration with contractors, clients, and regulatory authorities.
- Proven problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to resolving on-site quality issues.
- Dedicated to maintaining a robust nuclear safety culture and driving continuous improvement initiatives.
