NRL is currently recruiting a Planning Engineer to join one of our leading clients in their Nuclear Power Engineering and Technical Services team. This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a high-performing project team within a critical sector, supporting the delivery of complex engineering works on a key site within the UK’s nuclear fleet.
An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Planning Engineer to join the planning team.

This is an exciting opportunity to become part of an established team working on a long-term framework. This role offers the chance to work in a dynamic and forward-thinking environment to deliver projects of national importance. The successful candidate will work closely with Project Managers, multi-disciplinary project teams, and the Client on a diverse portfolio of challenging projects.

Role-Planning Engineer
Contract Length- 12 month + 
Rate- £55.00- £60.00 p/h Inside IR35
Location- Cumbria

Key Responsibilities

  • Developing, update and maintain full lifecycle project schedules in Primavera P6, ensuring accuracy and alignment with project objectives and delivery targets.
  • To update and maintain Programme-level tactical/delivery plans.
  • Working closely with Project Managers to support project forecasting, progress reporting, and scenario planning for change requests.
  • To Generate resource profiles to support the efficient deployment of project resources.
  • Producing and interpret earned value management (EVM) metrics, including performance analysis and variance reporting.
  • Ensure programmes comply with NEC 3/4 contract requirements and utilise CEMAR for contract management activities.
  • Attend regular progress meetings to capture schedule updates and to provide clear insight on programme performance and critical path impacts.
Required Experience & Skills

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a project planning role within engineering, construction, or nuclear sectors.
  • Strong working knowledge of Primavera P6 and other planning methodologies.
  • Proficient in creating detailed costed & resourced schedules, progress updates, and performance analytics.
  • Must hold appropriate Security Clearance and be a pass holder.
  • Experience with IWM (Integrated Work Management) is desirable.
