NRL are looking for Principal Civil Designers to join a UK project team on a staff or PAYE basis, based at Stockton and on-site at Whitby. Working from home will be accommodated, with some site visits expected. This role will support our new large scale new age mining project, which is the first of its kind, producing environmentally friendly fertiliser. This is a FEED to EPCM project being built in the UK. 

 

You will join the Civil, Structural, Architectural and Weight Control Department (CSAW) which provides concept, FEED and detailed design services for onshore and offshore, mining, chemical and energy projects with an inherently safe, economical and sustainable solution that meets client demands. Discipline functions range from intelligent modelling, analysis and design of structural systems based in harsh environments through to weight control and architectural engineering.

Key Responsibilities

Maintain the required technical quality of work

Identify scope and schedule changes in accordance with the Change Control Process

Execute design and draughting activities to produce deliverables associated with the allocated workscope, including E3D activities to facilitate the production, while requiring minimum input from engineering personnel.

Ensure that designs comply with the relevant procedures and regulations

Ensure as far as is practically possible, that all assigned work is carried out in compliance with agreed budget and schedule

Provide input to estimates and schedules and assist in their review

Maintain good communication with the client and visit sites when necessary

Maintain filing systems.

Provide technical assistance to all personnel as required, across discipline to facilitate delivery.

Ensure engineering and design quality, technical accuracy of drawings, material quantities, etc.

Prepare workscope packages for distribution to other locations.

Facilitate discussions with Senior Designers and Designers relating to design and preparation of drawing issues, providing technical guidance, support and training when required. Ensuring that all discipline personnel are working in alignment and following best practices.

Signing and checking of drawings and documents in accordance with correct procedures.

Encourage and provide lateral learning within the project

Role Requirements

HND or equivalent in appropriate engineering subject

E3D or PDMS Experience

Conversant with company quality control assurance requirements applicable to draughting function.

Experienced principal designer with sound technical background and in depth knowledge of CAD draughting techniques.

Conversant with codes of practice, standards and relevant sections of statutory documentation applicable to draughting function.

Familiar with and competent in planning, progress monitoring, forecasting and reporting for draughting function.

Able to estimate man-hours and materials for delegated aspects of work.
