Mission and role details:
The role of the MSE Technician is to ensure the accuracy, reliability, and compliance of measurement systems and equipment used in battery production at AESC. This role combines metrology, calibration, and process control to maintain precision across critical testing and manufacturing operations. The MSE Technician supports the validation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of measurement tools and systems to guarantee that all production and quality data meet required industry standards. Additionally, the MSE Technician will work closely with engineers, production, maintenance and quality teams to ensure measurement integrity, minimise variability, and optimise overran manufacturing performance.
Outline and Responsibilities:
- Maintain calibration databases, records, and schedules. Coordinate activities with vendors and stakeholders.
- Review calibration vendors/scopes for suitability. Monitor certifications and escalate issues.
- Ensure traceability and documentation meet IATF 16949 requirements.
- Plan and conduct Measurement Systems Analysis (MSA) studies (GRR, bias, linearity, stability).
- Investigate system issues and implement corrective actions for continuous improvement.
- Provide clear technical updates and reports at all levels.
Experience & qualifications Required:
- Education/experience in metrology (advantage).
- Strong knowledge of MSA methods (AIAG 4th Edition desirable).
- Awareness of ISO 17025, calibration traceability and ISO standards.
- Ability to analyse, interpret, and present data for fact-based decisions.
- Knowledge of GD&T and metrology principles.
- Experience with dimensional/electrical equipment (micrometers, multimeters, etc.), CMM/OMM systems and calibration techniques.
- Understanding of quality core tools (PPAP, APQP, MSA, FMEA, SPC).
- Organised, detail-focused, with strong communication skills.
- Proficient in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
