Senior Process Engineer - Contract – Approximately 6 months - Full-Time | 40 hours/week (8-hour days) - Location: Knutsford, Cheshire (WA16)
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Senior Process Engineer to join our client's Projects team on a contract basis for around six months. This is a full-time role based in Knutsford, Cheshire. You will play a key role in delivering process engineering solutions, working on high-profile, highly regulated contracts within the nuclear sector. While previous nuclear experience is beneficial, it is not essential if you have worked within other highly regulated environments.

Key Responsibilities
Lead process engineering aspects of projects, including design, proposals, and consultancy activities
Supervise process engineers and manage project budgets, schedules, and resources
Approve process engineering drawings (P&IDs) and calculations
Develop process basis of design and control philosophies
Ensure compliance with relevant safety and regulatory standards in a highly regulated environment
Manage client relationships in a technical capacity
Support and develop junior engineers and project teams
What We’re Looking For
Degree in Chemical Engineering
Chartered status preferred or willingness to work towards it
Security Clearance (SC) essential and must be maintainable
Proven skills in process engineering design including PFDs, energy and mass balances, P&IDs, simulations, and hydraulic calculations
Experience with equipment specification (pumps, tanks, reactors, columns, instrumentation, heat exchangers, line sizing)
Knowledge of relief, blow down valve, and flare system sizing
Experience working on safety-critical or regulated projects/environments
Familiarity with UK nuclear legislation, safety cases, and engineering standards
Strong team leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills
Knowledge of Designer and Principal Designer roles under CDM regulations
Proficient in Office 365, including Word, Excel, OneDrive, and SharePoint
Eligible to live and work in the UK with a full UK/EEC driving licence
Desirable Skills
Experience in risk assessments and regulatory compliance (HAZOP, HAZAN, COMAH, DSEAR, CDM)
Experience working on multi-disciplinary projects during Concept, FEED, and EPC phases
Familiarity with ASPEN HYSYS software
