Travel and subsistence is available to candidates who live over 32 miles from HPC.

About the Opportunity  
The Bulk Inspection Services team provide a document and in-house surveillance service for the supply of large volume bulk materials and complex engineering equipment delivered onto the Hinkley Point C (HPC) Nuclear New Build site.
A Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) Subject Matter Expert (SME) is required to work closely with Contractors and Engineering teams to review design packages prior to the start of manufacture and to provide specialist expertise to support Suppliers in meeting the requirements of the Technical Specifications.
 
There is a requirement to assist the implementation of HPC & Sizewell C project sourcing strategies by conducting in-depth technical assessments of supplier NDT operations to confirm capabilities and identify any gaps that may require further NDT specialist support.

The NDT SME will also perform routine witnessing and surveillance of Supplier NDT arrangements during manufacture prior to product release to the HPC site.
The SME is the go-to person for all matters relating to NDT and provides support to the wider team on technical issues.
    
Here’s What You’ll Need  
  • Qualification in an Engineering discipline, Degree/ HNC / HND, (or lower if combined with experience gained in complex plant or related industry).
  • Preferably an Incorporated Engineer (IEng)
  • 10 years’ experience in an NDT leadership role in a manufacturing environment.
  • Level 3 certification (e.g., ASNT, PCN) with experience of the application of NDT and plant inspection in the nuclear sector or a related industry.
  • Knowledge of working to UK and international standards and codes of practice ideally in the  UK Nuclear sector.
  • Be able to communicate well with internal and external stakeholders and develop professional relationships with suppliers.
  • Demonstrates resilience in a challenging environment.
